A short history of the tulip with fotos from the television!!RAI5 in Italy

The first tulips ever seen grew in the mountains of Turchia,as well as in Persia!
The Gran Vizir declared the tulip holy and planted lots of bulbs in his palace garden.
Here he is surrounded by his ministers.
And we can see the representations of hundreds of tulips..
as well stylisized in mosaics in the S.Sofia templein Istanbul.Which was Consantinopoli in history:a centre of culture and economy!!

The first tulips hadn't round forms, but were !sharp edged flowers.A sign of divinity!!

With the commerce over seas the bulbs came to Europe, where they became popular in France,Austria but above all in the Netherlands!Where around 1634 they rised up to very high prices!!A foolishness!!
In the Frans Hals museum we can admire a botanic book with the first tulip which started it all:"the Semper Augustus"
Through times they discovered that the white stripes in this tulip was caused by a virus!!!
We can admire them in different puctures rhrough the museum.
In 1937 there came an end to the sale of tulip bulbs.Men had become too avid!!!In this picture we can see the end of the fools drowing in the sea!!

Not a long time ago a new tulip was dicovered.Round leaves and galf white, half red!!A healthy one,not fake!!
We may admire them in full bloom within ten years, because he must be strong grown!!

The"Semper Augustus are thrown away immediately as soon as he appears as not to infect healthy tulips!!

My tribute to all those beautiful tulips!!!
